So this is what I’ve got so far for the photo campaign to get the name out there. That light bulb is a lamp I made out of PVC and is kind of sort of really awesome! So, reblog, like, share, or whatever you feel comfortable with. Go to my page and if you like the cause or if you just think my light bulb is cool get the name out there, everything helps!

ofLIGHT: Promotes the emotional wellness of college students on campus, but also the emotional wellness of anyone via Tumblr and the web.

Here it is! The small little logo you see on my page full size. I photographed these people at a Skrillex concert in Houston, Texas and decided that it fit in perfectly with the kind of look that I wanted the avatar to have.

ofLIGHT- A charity that promotes the emotional wellness of students on college campuses.

Go to my page kind of see what it’s about so far, if you think it’s something you can stand behind please follow, re-blog, whatever so that you can help me get the word out there. Suicide is not the answer, and I intend to provide the resources that will give students the knowledge to utilize other options. There is a story to be told, so live it.

Legality

Currently I am striving to start ofLIGHT as a charity, but it is a lot of paper work and in terms which if you are not familiar with legal speak means absolutely nothing to me. So, hopefully I can work with my Aunt, a paralegal, and see if she can help me out with wading through the forms to file with the Secretary of State office in Texas to see what my options are.

However, I do not yet have a charity that can incorporate or file with the Secretary of State’s office because I do not have enough people interested to make up my board for basically a small company. I may have to open an account in the name of this charity that I want to start, so I can design and sell the shirts that will at least for now, fund the beginnings of what I hope to be an incorporated charity someday. I feel like emotional wellness on college campuses is a big deal and I have the numbers to prove it, but finding the resources to start a charity so that I can front the distribution of resources to my own college campus for now and then to To Write Love on Her Arms, online. I want to have an online store that I run advertise here on Tumblr and elsewhere so, that if you like the shirts and you support the cause you can get the word out.

Too many college students are stressed and do not know how to cope. Too many college students do not know how to identify when emotional upset (depression, anxiety, etc.) within themselves or within their peers has reached a critical level. The numbers do not lie. College students are on average more stressed than any other group of people categorically. Suicide is not the answer, and I want to give my peers other solutions and the knowledge to seek these other solutions. I believe in this strongly and I hope some of you do too.

twloha:

At the end of our intro video, the crowd stood looking toward the stage, expecting the curtain to open to the first song of the night. Instead? An invitation from a very special poet in the balcony.

Listen to this and know that you are understood, that your particular circumstance may be exclusive to you, but that your sadness is not. You are understood. Take solace in the fact that you are not alone. Know that there is a life beyond this pain and that once you pull through, once you crawl through to the other side and break through the thickness of the dark you will find that life is more beautiful than the pain you have previously endured and that now it  ”glows like chance before you,” and know that you can take it and embrace it and soak it in. Keep walking forward because no one is perfect. I am like you.

Introduction

There is a story to be told here.

There is more to your story, there is more to be told, there is more to your story, there is more to it than you know. There is light to be found in the darkest of spaces, so join me as I join you on a personal level. Join me as I walk alongside you to work towards bettering your story, educating the public, and advocating for the healing of people who are touched by any of the wide range of emotional disorders as defined today, so that we may all learn and grow together, and so that we can all live to tell our own unique and individual story.

I am one person. I have Bipolar II Disorder and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. These two disorders are two things that affect my life, but they do not define my life and they do not define who I am. I want to educate and advocate for emotional wellness on college campuses, but also I want to encourage being your own advocate and utilize some very important resources if you need them:

Reblog
J.R.R. Tolkien’s works have many messages of hope and stories of hardships that are always overcome by perseverance, faith, and hope. Know that you are not alone and that just because you struggle does not mean you must struggle alone, and know that this struggle is temporary. There is light in dark spaces, we just have to learn where to look.
